After serving Wisconsin site and facility owners for over a decade, one senior professional geologist / hydrogeologist had a vision. That vision was to create a consulting firm that would be molded by the needs of its clients, rather than providing services limited by staff capability. The idea spawned a company named PETRA Environmental Consultants, Inc., whose mission statement is "Compliance Support for Industry" (for you curious ones, "PETRA" is Greek for "Peter", which means "the rock". What would you expect from a Geologist!).

The President and founder of PETRA, Anthony (Tony) Ungerer, P.G., recognized that it is very difficult to build and maintain any single firm fluid enough to satisfy ALL of the compliance needs for ALL of its clients. Because this is so difficult (and may never be effectively accomplished),most consulting firms are forced to provide services as dictated by their staff's capabilities. At times, it becomes very difficult to continue providing comprehensive and meaningful consulting services under these conditions. In situations where a firm is challenged with providing new or different professional services to their clients, company officials must take many things under business consideration. Decisions having to do with whether to staff up, develop the service line, equipment purchases, overhead costs, etc. have to be considered.

In order to effectively provide comprehensive services, PETRA established a network of expert consultants from all areas of the environmental and safety compliance arena. These professionals are available, enabling PETRA to help you build a special team of professionals based on your needs, not determined by available or unavailable staff. PETRA's mission is to be able to provide your operation with the support necessary to comply with the federal, state or local regulatory requirements.
